Strathroy, a municipality located west of London, Ontario, was created through the merger of the former township of Caradoc and the town of Strathroy in 2001. It’s two largest communities are Strathroy and Mount Brydges. Starthroy is situated within Middlesex County and is represented by Lambton-Kent-Middlesex at the Provincial and Federal levels.

Strathroy first settled in 1832 near the Sydenham River with sufficient water flow to power a grist mill. The first general store opened in 1840. Strathroy was incorporated as a village in 1860 and became a town in 1872. A local newspaper company was established in 1866 which eventually became the Age Dispatch. In 1876 the first brewery opened it’s doors. In 1896, the Strathroy Furniture Company opened its doors and declared bankruptcy in 1992 and in 2004 the towns train station was destroyed by fire.
